GuideEntering the Estonian market in 6 steps
  1. Market research

Who already sells here, what prices and customer expectations are, and who makes purchasing decisions. It also pays to know the trade media and key industry associations.

  2. Choosing a form of presence

Selling from Poland, a local representative, a branch of your Polish company or an Estonian OÜ. The choice depends on scale, taxes and what customers expect.

  3. Registration and address

A company can be set up online with e-Residency or through a notary. It needs an address in Estonia. If the management board is abroad, the company must also appoint a contact person: a notary, law firm, sworn auditor or licensed service provider.

  4. Taxes and accounting

Monthly returns (TSD by the 10th, VAT by the 20th of the month) and an annual report. It is worth working with a local accounting firm from the start.

  5. People and partners

First employees, distributors, subcontractors. Employees must be registered in the employment register before they start work. Estonians value directness, punctuality and keeping your word.

  6. Communication and media

Messaging in Estonian that sounds natural. Contacts with business journalists, industry events, first publications. Much of the trust in your company depends on this.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to set up a company in Estonia?

Not always. Selling from Poland with a local representative is often enough to start. An OÜ makes sense if you plan permanent operations, hiring, or if customers expect an Estonian counterparty. We will help you assess this and check the legal and tax details with trusted partners.

What language do we work in?

Usually English. Russian is also possible, as is basic Polish. With Estonian partners, media and authorities we speak Estonian on your behalf.

Is English enough in Estonia?

In business and in Tallinn, English usually works. But with customers, media and institutions it pays to speak Estonian. It makes building trust easier.

Can you help with ministries and authorities?

Yes. We help you understand which institutions matter for your sector, prepare your position and arrange meetings. We act transparently and on behalf of your company.

Can you recommend local partners and service providers?

Yes. We recommend accountants, lawyers, recruitment agencies, logistics firms and potential business partners. First we agree on who you are looking for, then we arrange the meetings.

Can you act as the company’s contact person or provide a registered address?

In Estonia these services may only be provided by notaries, law firms, sworn auditors and licensed service providers. We arrange them through partners we work with and coordinate the whole process.

How is representation billed?

Usually as a fixed monthly fee for an agreed scope of work, plus travel and event costs as agreed. We prepare an exact quote after the introductory call.

Which sectors do you work with?

Our experience includes technology and regulated sectors such as energy and data protection. If your sector is different, we will tell you openly whether we can help.
